Traveling Architectures, Film, Lighting, and Bodies in Motion Workshop

This workshop investigates how traveling architectures, as portable installations, can animate and transform our understanding of film, lighting, and bodies in motion–that is the vitality and preciousness of perception–through a participatory workshop that focuses on new interpretations of neighborhood spaces through film and lighting.

In the first section of the workshop, participants will explore how basic experiences of perception impact our capacities to observe and make art. In the second part we will investigate an integrated approach to film, lighting, and moving that leads to the design and construction of dynamic film-lighting-dance sketches that showcase Sham Shui Po and its heritage spaces. In the final workshop section, we will explore how the arts can help us communicate our ideas to a larger audience through display and performance formats.

The workshop activities will lead to a set of collaboratively-devised film clips, lighting plans, and mini-dance pieces that will be showcased during the last 30 minutes of the workshop as well as at the Public Showing for Traveling Architectures at HKUBB, June 17.
